Beautiful, Dirty, Rich

Desdimona Green is finally out of prison. The small town of Blink, Texas won’t know what hit ’em.

In Beautiful, Dirty, Rich by author J. D. Mason, readers are taken on a journey of murder and retribution. At the young age of 18, Desi was convicted of the murder of millionaire Julian Gatewood. After spending 25 years in prison, she is released and inherits millions of dollars and becomes beautiful, dirty, and rich. With the help of her friend, Lonnie, she seeks revenge against those who wronged her and put her in jail all those years ago, including the wealthy Gatewood family.

My thoughts: I don’t want to spoil the story and tell too much, but I seriously enjoyed this book. It is juicy and full of scandal and secrets. It was refreshing to read, especially with the other titles I’ve been reading lately.

Likewise, I am desperately looking forward to reading the follow-up, Drop Dead, Gorgeous. I hope the book will delve deeper into Lonnie, as I have many questions about her. I know Lonnie was Desi’s friend, but what did Lonnie really get out of the revenge plot? I felt there was another motive for Lonnie’s actions and participation, but it wasn’t revealed, except to simply express that they were friends. Lonnie put herself out there for Desi, so much so that I had to question, who is the real one who truly wants the revenge? I hope the next book will touch  on Lonnie’s motivations for even contacting Desi and forming a friendship, and of course, revenge against Jordan Gatewood. I will find out when I read the next one!

In short, I couldn’t get enough of this book. I read it in a matter of days. (I did have to go to work and finish my school assignments!) I enjoyed every page. According to Amazon, Drop Dead, Gorgeous will be released June 25, and I cannot wait to read it.
